  • Venue : Social Sciences Lecture Theatre, Saw Promenade, Crawley Western Australia, Australia

Presented in collaboration by Bukjeh and the Palestinian Cultural Society of UWA

Bukjeh and the Palestinian Cultural Society of UWA warmly invite you to a special cultural night followed by a screening of Motherhood in the Colony, a compelling and deeply moving film co-directed by Worimi filmmaker Genevieve Grieves and Palestinian creative Director Aseel Tayah.

Motherhood in the Colony brings together eight First Nations and Palestinian women, sharing intimate stories of colonial trauma, resilience, and mothering as a radical act of resistance. Through honest, poetic, and powerful storytelling, the film invites us to listen deeply, unlearn inherited narratives, and imagine liberated futures beyond colonisation.

Bukjeh and GARUWA film, in association with Common Ground.
Created on the lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation in Victoria.

From the river to the sea. Always was, always will be.

Pay As you can..

Come connect, reflect, and stand in solidarity with voices that resist erasure.

About the Palestinian Cultural Society of UWA (PCSUWA)
The Palestinian Cultural Society of UWA exists to strengthen Palestinian identity on campus and raise awareness of Palestine’s rich cultural heritage and national struggle. Through powerful initiatives, cultural celebrations, and political advocacy, we create spaces for students and allies to connect, learn, and stand in solidarity. From vibrant cultural nights to meaningful campaigns — including our successful push for UWA’s divestment from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem — PCSUWA is proudly building a community rooted in justice, resistance, and pride.
